Khammam: District Collector Diwakar TS stated in a statement on Wednesday that a district-level control room has been set up to continuously monitor flood conditions, as heavy rains are likely due to the impact of a low-pressure area. He directed officials to monitor water levels from time to time in streams, rivulets, tanks, projects, canals, and other areas in the district. He advised identifying low-lying areas and flood-prone areas in advance and shifting the people there to safe places depending on the situation. The Collector requested people not to attempt to cross streams, rivulets, canals, tanks, and rivers where the flow of flood water is heavy. He stated that precautions should be taken to avoid traveling with vehicles through flood water.
He directed officials to take steps to ensure that people stay away from dangerous areas such as electricity poles, snapped power lines, and water-logged areas. He stated that traffic should be monitored in areas where flood water is flowing over roads and necessary action should be taken. He advised officials of Revenue, Police, Panchayat Raj, Municipal, Irrigation, Medical, Electricity, and other departments to work in coordination. The Collector requested people to inform the district control room immediately if they face any emergency situation related to floods. He ordered that the concerned officials should respond immediately to the information received by the control room and undertake necessary relief measures.
