Khammam: Lord Ganesha idols, worshipped with utmost devotion for nine days, were immersed on Wednesday amid tight security arrangements. This immersion programme was conducted peacefully at the Damsalapuram tank on the outskirts of Khammam. Khammam Police Commissioner Sunil Dutt thanked the officials, police personnel, devotees, and Utsav Committee members who cooperated to conduct this programme in a peaceful environment. He stated that the Ganesh immersion programme could be successfully conducted only with the coordination of devotees, the cooperation of Utsav Committees, and the participation of officials from various departments. On Wednesday, he flagged off the Ganesh immersion Shobhayatra near the local Mustafa Nagar crossroads, along with SUDA Chairman Puvvalla Durga Prasad and the Khammam Municipal Corporation Commissioner.
Speaking on the occasion, Commissioner Sunil Dutt said that necessary measures were taken to ensure that devotees participating in the immersion programme did not face any difficulties. He stated that a special ghat had been arranged for the immersion. He explained that officials of the concerned departments were working in coordination for the smooth flow of the immersion process, focusing on necessary infrastructure, security measures, and arrangements to guide the public. He expressed gratitude to all the devotees who conducted the Ganesha Navaratri celebrations with devotion and followed the instructions of the Police Department. He noted that necessary security would continue until the devotees and Utsav Committee members safely reached their homes. He stated that police personnel would remain on duty, monitoring the situation until the immersion process was completed.
He requested the devotees and organisers participating in the Shobhayatra to follow the instructions and rules of the Police Department. He advised them to maintain discipline during the Shobhayatra and cooperate so that others are not inconvenienced. He appealed to them to remain alert during the immersion and pay special attention to the safety of children, the elderly, and women. He advised that if any emergency situation arises, it should be brought to the immediate notice of the concerned staff. Later, he monitored the Ganesh immersion programme at the Damsalapuram tank. Stambhadri Utsav Samithi President Vinod Lahoti, Working President G. Vidyasagar, General Secretary K. Jayapal Reddy, Convener Kannam Prasanna Krishna, Organizing Secretary Allika Anjaiah, Treasurer M. Srihari, Secretary Dovale Saikiran, officials from various departments, and Utsav Committee members participated in this programme.
