Khammam: State Minister for Revenue, Housing, and Information, Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy, alleged that during the past ten years of BRS rule, irrigation projects were neglected, and thousands of crores of rupees of Telangana people’s money were looted in the name of re-designs. On Wednesday, along with State Agriculture Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao, he inaugurated the Marella Padu Lift Irrigation Scheme in Ashwapuram mandal of Bhadradri Kothagudem district. Speaking on this occasion, Minister Ponguleti assured that through this project, irrigation water is currently reaching 4,300 acres from Tummala Cheruvu, and efforts will be made in the future to provide irrigation water to 23,000 acres in Ashwapuram mandal. He also stated that the Pulusu Bontha project, which has been pending for several years, will be completed. For this, the necessary land acquisition and forest clearance processes will be completed, he said.
Re-designs for self-interest
He criticised that while foundation stones were laid for projects in the undivided district during the tenure of the late Chief Minister of undivided Andhra Pradesh, Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, the BRS rulers pocketed thousands of crores of rupees in the name of re-designs. Accordingly, he said everyone knows how they altered the Sitarama project for their personal benefit. He added that after their government came to power, the Marella Padu project was completed, and many irrigation projects will be made available to farmers in the future.
Ours is a government with commitment
He said that the previous rulers governed for ten years without even mentioning ration cards, but after the Congress government came to power under the leadership of Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, ration cards were given to all eligible poor people. He stated that farmer loan waiver and Rythu Bharosa schemes were implemented, and Rs 72,000 crores of interest-free loans were provided to women. He expressed sadness that while their governance is continuing irrespective of caste and religion, the BRS leaders are speaking arrogantly towards the assembly’s Dalit Speaker. He mentioned that Indiramma houses will be provided to all eligible people in the 3rd and 4th phases as well, ensuring that the fruits of welfare reach everyone. Mahabubabad MP Porika Balaram Naik, Pinapaka MLA Payam Venkateswarlu, Aswaraopeta MLA Jare Adinarayana, Bhadrachalam MLA Dr. Tellam Venkatrao, and other representatives participated in this programme.
